Byung Gyu Lim

8th President

2016 - 2019

Byung Gyu Lim

Byung Gyu Lim, originally from South Korea, was born in Korea and raised in California since 1995. He served as the president of the Bay Area Asian Deaf Association (BAADA) from 2016 to 2019, despite initially feeling unprepared as a college student. Encouraged by former officers, he decided to run for president, won the election, and embarked on a journey of leadership within the Asian Deaf community in the Bay Area. During his term, he experienced both challenges and successes, including establishing connections with various organizations and collaborating with the Southern California Asian Deaf Association to create a new logo and vision, which earned them an appreciation award from the Deaf Community Award.

Byung Gyu Lim strongly believes that language access and cultural representation are vital for the empowerment and inclusion of the Asian Deaf community. As a former president, he emphasizes the importance of fostering a supportive network that addresses the unique intersectionality of being Asian and Deaf, advocating for the power of community to uplift and empower its members.
