Nan Zhou

4th President

2004 - 2007

Nan Zhou

Nan Zhou, originally from China, has been living in the United States since 1990. With over three decades of experience as an advocate for the Asian Pacific Islander (API) Deaf community, Nan served as the president of the Bay Area Asian Deaf Association (BAADA) from 2004 to 2007.

Inspired by Asian Deaf role models he encountered at the National Asian Deaf Conference during his high school years, Nan developed a deep passion for empowering the Asian Deaf community. As BAADA president, he worked to improve access to resources, foster cultural pride, and ensure the success of the 2007 National Asian Deaf Conference hosted by BAADA.

Nan’s time at BAADA was a transformative experience, both personally and professionally. He collaborated with other API Deaf leaders to create lasting impact and treasured opportunities to connect with members of the global API Deaf community.

Nan believes that culturally competent resources, social justice, and inclusive spaces are essential for the Asian Deaf community. By fostering visibility and honoring intersectional identities, Nan continues to advocate for a thriving, empowered, and culturally proud API Deaf community.
